80% of buildings that will be in use in 2050 have already been built. From a sustainability perspective, there are no measures in the construction industry that are more effective than rehabilitating existing buildings so that their lifespan is extended. The challenge is to transform the buildings so that they both satisfy today's standard requirements and facilitate the needs for further use.
